Dry Skin

Dry skin is becoming more and more common with most of us experiencing dry skin at some point. Skin can become dry for many reasons. Over washing, warm dry rooms and over use of harsh cosmetics can contribute and aggravate dry skin by further drying the skin and removing the skin’s natural barrier. After washing skin can become dry, itchy, flaky, tight and uncomfortable.

With dry and sensitive skin on the increase, some skin experts believe that this can, in part, be attributed to increased washing and use of chemical ridden cosmetics. It is important to protect the skin from drying out by avoiding harsh chemicals found in many cosmetic washes and moisturisers as these may further dry and irritate the skin. Washes, shower gels, shampoos and moisturisers should be free from common skin irritants in order to cleanse the skin and scalp with out drying. It is vital to regularly rehydrate dry skin with irritant free moisturisers.

It is essential to use gentle washes, shower gels and shampoos to cleanse the body with drying or irritating the skin. Moisturising skin regularly with intensive moisturisers such as elave body lotion, intensive cream or elave body oil will help relieve the itch of dry skin and eliminate flaking and dryness. Dry skin on the face should not be forgotton and it is important to cleanse the face with gentle cleanser and rehydrate the skin regularly. In the case of men, it is important to rehydrate and protect facial skin during and after shaving to reduce razor burn, irritation and redness.
