Treat Dry Hands with our Special Tips
skincare March 13th, 2008Dry hands not only feel uncomfortable and itchy they can also show your age leaving your hands looking older. Antibacterial hand washes, perfumed creams and cleaning detergents can disturb the skin’s natural barrier resulting in dehydration of the skin allowing irritants to penetrate the skin. This can cause further irritation leaving hands itchy and red especially between fingers and around the nail bed.
Hand creams can help but they are not alone! It is vital to avoid over-drying the skin by using harsh hand washes and cleaning products. Follow our handy tips and see the difference.
1. Avoid harsh hand washes and replace with hand washes free from perfumes, alcohol and sodium laureth sulfate like elave hand wash.
2. Moisturise hands regularly, especially before cleaning.
3. Avoid cleaning products and always use rubber gloves. For extra care, wear cotton gloves underneath rubber gloves to avoid irritation.
4. For an extra treat, apply elave hand treatment liberally to clean dry hands and then apply the cotton gloves to help the absorption - best to leave them overnight if you can!

I love the hand treatment cream but I never thought that anti-bac washes were bad for my skin. I did notice my daughter’s hand slightly irritated after using them but I never really thought about it. I will order the elave hand wash. Love ur blog and products.
