Baby massage has become more popular in recent years and it can help enhance the bond with you and your baby. This is an ideal routine before bed as it calms the baby, preparing it for bed and can even help induce restful sleep.

So where do you start…you don’t have to be an expert in massage to have a go. Just simply undress the baby in a warm room so that they are relaxed and don’t catch a chill. Place the baby on their back on a soft blanket or large cushion.

Apply a little elave baby oil to your hands and warm it between your palms before massaging gently on the chest area in sweeping movements. Continue this gentle movement towards the arms by starting the movement from the wrist to the shoulder and then finally massaging the hands and fingers.

Babies spend most of their time using their legs even before the reach the walking stage so spend some time massaging their feet, legs and back. Remember to watch the baby’s expressions so that you can tell which movement they like best.
