elave - Organic & Natural

skincare No Comments »

We are now adding more information on our elave packaging about our organic and natural ingredients. It’s worth noting that our formulations have not changed in any way but we have made this change to our labelling to highlight our ingredients.

www.elave.co.uk is committed to being a safe, sensitive skincare range. Where possible, we choose certified and naturally derived organic ingredients for all our products including purified water and camomile. All ingredients are selected to maximise the hydration of the skin and minimise the irritation of sensitive skin. elave skincare is clinically tested on the most sensitive skin to ensure it is suitable for eczema and sensitive skin.

Baby Skincare - Choose carefully!

Newborn skin is especially sensitive and that where elave baby comes in. Like the rest of the elave range, elave baby is free from common skin irritants like perfumes, sodium laureth sulfate (SLS/SLES), parabens, formaldehyde, lanolin, colourings, alcohol and soap. All these irritants can leave skin dry and itchy resulting in eczema type symptoms.

It is essential to protect newborn skin from dryness by using the most gentle products on the skin and washing less often. Overwashing and bathing babies with products which contain harsh ingredients has been linked by medical experts in Dermatology with the rise in eczema.

elave baby bath and shampoo contain gentle glucose based surfactants to cleanse delicate newborn skin without irritation or dryness reducing skin rashes and cradle cap. elave baby intensive cream is ideal for rehydrating skin which can be dry especially after birth. Massage and calm agitated babies with elave baby oil which is so pure that it contain only two purified ingredients!

Daily skincare regime can help reduce skin flare-ups

skincare No Comments »

Many regular skincare products can be too drying and irritating for sensitive skin especially eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Most shampoos, shower gels, bubble baths and hand washes contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS/SLES) a surfactant which can leave skin dry and tight after washing. elave skincare is free from SLS/SLES yet still foams and cleanses skin without irritation.

If you suffer from dry skin especially after showering, why not try out elave 3 step Combined Therapy Programme to leave your skin soft and protected.

1. Shower and Bathe with elave shower or body wash
2. Gently cleanse the hair and scalp without irritating the rest of the body with elave shampoo (Many cosmetic shampoos contain harsh foaming agents, perfumes and alcohol which can irritate as they rinse over the body)
3. Rehydrate and Protect skin by applying elave body lotion or intensive cream

elave helps Hand Dermatitis

skincare No Comments »

Contact Dermatitis is caused by the direct action of a substance on the skin causing inflammation and can result in red, itchy and dry skin at the point of contact.

While eczema and contact dermatitis look quite alike they should not be confused. Dermatitis symptoms can be greatly improved by identifying the irritant and removing it from contact. Common irritants include:

Harsh preservatives - parabens found in skincare products
Latex - avoid rubber gloves, elastic in clothing
Certain foods - try avoiding one food at a time to see if the reaction reduces
Lanolin - found in some skincare products
Detergents & Soaps - try non-biological washing powder
    Plants - poison ivy
    Paraphenylenediamine - hair dyes
Cromate - found in leather shoes and cement
    Petrol Products
    Acids/Alkalis

Contact Dermatitis is most common on the hands due to constant hand washing with harsh products, which can dry and further irritate the skin. It is important to avoid anti-bacterial hand washes if your hands are dry and irritated as their harsh and drying ingredients can make skin even more irritated.

elave baby featured in Bounty Magazine

b

elave baby is featured in the current You and your Newborn Bounty magazine.

Since all babies have sensitive skin it stands to reason that new parents are looking for the most sensitive skincare for their newborns. Recent research shows that over washing the skin and the increased use of perfumed, coloured and harsh foaming skincare products are linked with the rise in eczema.

elave baby is free from lanolin, perfumes, parabens, alcohol, soap, sodium laureth sulfate and colourings so is ideal for gently cleansing and moisturising newborn baby skin. With more and more health visitors recommending the use of cotton wool and water to cleanse the skin for the first few months after birth, it comes as little surprise that regular baby products which contain perfumes, colourings and sodium laureth sulfate should be avoided.

Order elave baby now and receive FREE nappy bag samples!!
