Eczema Clothing Checklist

Print out this check list. Tick the points you have already carried out. The points you haven't any ticks should be put in place to reduce the itch of eczema.

1. Bedlinen

Are your child's bed sheets, mattress covers and duvet covers 100% cotton?

Do you wash all bedlinen in non-biological washing powders to reduce irritation?

Do you wash bedlinen at 60C to kill dust mites which can irritate eczema?

2. Nightwear

Is you child's nightwear 100% cotton?

Do you use cotton mittens and socks at night to reduce scratching and breaking the skin?

Is your child's underwear 100% cotton?

Have you removed labels from nightwear to reduce irritation?

Soft toys can home dust mites which aggravate the itch of eczema. Do you regularly pop them in the freezer for 6-8 hours to kill off dust mites?

3. Day wear

Are all you child's clothes 100% cotton?

Do you wash all your child's clothes in non-biological washing powders to reduce irritation?

Have you removed all labels from your child's clothes to reduce irritation?

Synthetic ingredients in many tights can irritate the skin and aggravate itching. Have you chosen 100% cotton tights to reduce the itch?

Many football jerseys and tracksuit bottoms are make from irritating synthetic materials which irritate the skin. Have you replaced these with 100% cotton versions?

4. School Uniforms

Many school uniforms including trousers, skirts and dresses contain a mix of synthetic materials which aggravate the itch of eczema. Does your child wear 100% cotton uniforms?

School jumpers and cardigans can irritate the skin around the neck, wrists and elbows. Have you replaced your child's with100% cotton alternative?

Do you wash your child's school uniform at 60C in non-biological washing powder to reduce irritation?
